Mo Taters and the Gravy Train
Pittsburgh’s western swing & classic country band Mo Taters and the Gravy Train
Pittsburgh Honer Harmonica Master, Charlie Barath (aka: Moe Taters) is bringing his latest project to Club VOMA!
Born as a “one-off” project for a “one-time” event, Moe Taters and The Gravy Train turned out to be so
much fun for the five musicians involved that they decided to let it roll. In fact, immediately upon stepping
off the bandstand at that first show, each member excitedly asked, “So when’s the next gig?”
And so it began.
This talented group of musicians brings you some of the best Western Swing and Vintage Country Music
around, coupled with some fun and catchy originals of their own, all guaranteed to get your boots moving.
The band is led by Charlie Barath on Lead Vocals and just the right amount of Harmonica. Pete Freeman’s
mastery of the Pedal Steel is a big part of this band’s sound, as is the truly amazing Guitar work of Donnie
Bell. The Gravy Train also boasts a stellar rhythm section made up of the one-and-only “Taco” on Bass
Guitar, and Bert Lerini in the driver’s seat on Drums.
So keep your eyes open for Moe Taters, and don’t miss a chance to catch The Gravy Train!

Folk/Bluegrass Series - Rachel Sumner&Traveling Light with Striped Maple Hollow
The Venue of Merging Arts (VOMA) Folk & Bluegrass series is thrilled to feature another award-winning Boston based touring group, Rachel Sumner and Traveling Light.
Fresh off a first-place win at the 2023 Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival band competition, Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light have been captivating audiences throughout the northeast. With songs as sweet and biting as the nectar and venom in her voice, Rachel Sumner's lyric-forward writing and penchant for snaking chord progressions demand something far beyond folk conventions, highlighting the acrobatic range of her brilliant bandmates Kat Wallace (fiddle) and Mike Siegel (upright bass).
Sumner is no stranger to the stage. She spent her early career on the bluegrass circuit, singing and writing with the genre-bending Boston group Twisted Pine. Since setting out on her own, we are beginning to fully recognize her dynamism as a writer and performer. Sumner's songs have been critically acclaimed, winning the Lennon Award in the folk category of the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest for her song "Radium Girls (Curie Eleison);" earning her a spot in the Kerrville New Folk Competition; and being chosen four consecutive years by WBUR/NPR as one of the top Massachusetts entries in the Tiny Desk Competition.
In 2011, Rachel relocated from the west coast to Boston as a classical flutist, intending only to study Composition and Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music. She didn’t play any other instruments - she hadn’t even thought to strum a string on the guitar at that point. Rachel might have begun her formal training in wind ensembles and orchestras, but folk music was important to her family and had been fueling her musical passion from the very start. While at school, she eventually found herself making friends with bluegrass musicians (some of whom would become her future band mates and collaborators) who encouraged and taught her to play basic chords on the guitar and introduced her to the canon of traditional music. In the short time since, Rachel has become one of the most vital voices in Boston's thriving roots music scene; she has written award-winning songs, toured internationally, and recorded and released four albums.
Rachel Sumner and Traveling Light are currently on tour promoting their recently released second album, Heartless Things, on a tour that includes performances at the Kerville (TX) Folk Festival, Rochester (NY) International Jazz Festival, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival (Oak Hill, NY) and the Earl Scruggs Music Festival in Mill Spring, NC.
Opening the evening will be one of Johnstown’s favorite folk music groups, Striped Maple Hollow.

The Clements Brothers
VOMA is pleased to announce the return of Boston’s Clements Brothers to Club VOMA as part of the tour promoting their newly released album “Dandelion Breeze”.
The brothers first Johnstown performance last February overwhelmed those in attendance with their exquisite musicianship and incomparable vocal harmonies. You don’t want to miss this rare Monday evening show!
The Clements Brothers are George and Charles Clements, identical twins from New England. They’ve been playing and writing music together for as long as they can remember and ‘The Clements Brothers’ marks their first project together since playing in the internationally touring grass-roots band, ‘The Lonely Heartstring Band’ with whom they put out two albums on Rounder Records. Prior to their current project, George became involved with an off-Broadway show called, The Simon & Garfunkel Story, playing Paul Simon while Charles played with a variety of different ensembles and collaborated on a wide range of projects ranging from folk to baroque and now is a substitute in the Boston Symphony.
With roots, rock, bluegrass, jazz, and classical influences, George (on guitar) and Charles (on bass) aim to capture their singer-songwriter sensibilities in a unique blended voice, at once enthralling and intimate, groovy and serene. The duo is a fusion of each brother's unique musical journey, and the result is a music all its own, filled with vocal harmonies, instrumental virtuosity, and a genuine love of song.
